Alert
An urgent bulletin for all BCGEU members
PLEASE POST

January 8, 2007

Please act quickly and register for your area’s Conversation on Health

As you may be aware, in September of 2006 the B.C. government launched their Conversation on Health campaign, which they say seeks to listen to what British Columbians have to say about how to prioritize and curb spending within our health care system.

It is important to have a genuine discussion about public health care. Take part in the government’s Conversation on Health. Sign up for a regional forum.

If you are a health care worker you can sign up for the Friday night Health Professionals forum in your area, if not, you can sign up for the Saturday day public forum.

The more British Columbians who are involved and support proven, sustainable, public solutions, the more difficult it will be for the government to steer the results toward a pre-determined conclusion.

Click here for a list of Conversation dates, times, locations and registration deadlines. Please take a look at when your area’s ‘Conversation’ is taking place and get registered! The nearest registration deadline is Jan. 11 for the Kelowna Conversation, so Okanagan members let’s get active!

For background information, starting Jan. 10 take a look the BCGEU website (www.bcgeu.ca) and check out the five suggestions that BCGEU members have made on how to heal health care here in B.C. Keep checking this site over the coming weeks for more information about the Conversations on Health.

Also, check out the B.C. Health Coalition’s website at www.bchealthcoalition.ca. Let's have a health care discussion based on facts, not fear! For more information please contact Shannon Beckett at (250) 388-9948/ 1-800-667-1033 or shannon.beckett@bcgeu.ca
